Committees of the Parliament discussing the draft Law on Broadcasting

The Human Rights and Civil Integration, the EU Integration, and the Budget and Finance Committees start the discussion of the Draft Law on Broadcasting.

As one of the initiators, Eka Sepashvili noted, the Draft determines the rules envisaging the technological development tendencies and ensuring equal conditions for new audio-visual media entities at the market.

“The regulations aim at the maintenance of cultural diversity, accessibility to audio-visual media services for persons with disabilities, protection of minors and the users, provision of media pluralism and the effective response to the programs and commercials distributing and encouraging hate speech and terrorism, as well as the effective prevention of the programs and commercials inconsistent with the legislation and the related risk and consequences”, - she stated.

The Broadcaster within its network determines at its discretion the time, sequence and programs for the audience to ensure equal access to the audio-visual production for all users. The Committees approved the Draft.
