Despite the war in Ukraine and unreliable supplies, Chancellor Olaf Scholz does not want to do without Russian gas completely.
“We don’t do it on our own, I don’t think it’s that responsible. But Germany is so well prepared that any backlash can be dealt with if Russia itself turns off the tap. “Even if it gets really tight, we’ll probably get through the winter. If Russia no longer delivers us gas, we will also get more gas from Norway and the Netherlands, for example”, - said the politician during the dialogue with citizens in Essen.
The Chancellor reiterated his support for the construction of a gas pipeline from Spain through France.
