We made a decision to subsidize the apple sales in the country. It is essential to incentivize and support our crop growers, so that no kilogram of sub-standard apples fall beyond sales. Orchard growers will receive the due revenues. It was stated by the Prime Minister of Georgia.
“We made a decision to subsidize the apple sales in the country. Otar Shamugia [Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia] developed a proposal. This year we expect 120 000 tons of apples. Subsidies were made by us in previous years and it is planned for this year as well. You may well be aware that special attention is paid to apple growing in Gori and Kareli Municipalities. It is thus essential to incentivize and support our farmers, so that no kilogram of sub-standard apples – let me stress, sub-standard apples – fall beyond sales. Farmers will get their due revenues.
Almost 20 enterprises will be engaged in the program. Otar Shamugia [Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia] will establish a due Task Force and all will be done at the highest level”, - said Irakli Garibashvili.
