Tbilisi City Hall starts pilot program for the replacement of damaged buildings. Such a statement made today the Mayor of the capital.
“In the third massive of Varketili, Samgori District, there is a five-storey high-category dilapidated building, from which we are already moving out the residents, and have already moved part of them to the living spaces rented by us. The Municipality will start dismantling this building and the construction of a new one instead. In connection with this, a detailed cost estimate and project have been drawn up, expertise has been conducted and market research has been announced. The Vice-Mayor of Tbilisi, Irakli Khmaladze, met with the representatives of the construction companies and provided them with detailed information about the project. No such project has ever been implemented so far. Therefore, the cooperation of the Municipality and the private sector - construction companies is very important for the successful implementation of this first pilot project. I want to call on the construction sector to be active.
The involvement of the local population is important for the full implementation of the mentioned program. More activity is needed to be rendered from the people living in damaged buildings. It is often the case that they have the wrong requirements. Some people want more space. Due to such approaches, the project cannot move to the next stage, however, the majority of citizens are very eager and we cooperate well with them.
The Municipality is working on a project to replace 12 more dilapidated buildings. I hope that the market research of the mentioned project will be completed successfully and tender procedures will be conducted in the next few days”, - said Kakha Kaladze.
