Education Project “Youth Camps” has been launched by the CEC

“Youth Camps” – an education project of the Central Election Commission (CEC) has been launched. The project that has been successfully run by the election administration (EA) for 3 years was opened by CEC’s Chair. Giorgi Kalandarishvili stressed the importance of youth involvement in the electoral process and noted that informing young voters and increasing their engagement in the electoral process is one of the priority topics for the election administration.

“Implementation of education projects is one of the key priorities for the EA. Youth Camp is the project that gives us an opportunity to support awareness-raising of the youth. Having active young people involved in the electoral process is strategically important not only for the election administration but for the country, at large”, Kalandarishvili noted at the meeting with young people.

As part of the education project, during 4-day, 240 young people will receive information on important topics such as electoral history, guiding principles of the democratic electoral process, electoral systems, models of election administrations, inclusive electoral environment, electronic voting devices, gender and elections, absenteeism, personal data protection, security of elections, media communication, disinformation, culture of debates, and so forth.

Additionally, the implementation of cultural and intellectual events is envisioned in the education electoral program. Trainers of the election administration, invited experts, and representatives of the CEC’s Training Centre are running the training.

“Youth Camps” is CEC’s education project which is being run since 2020. The project aims to popularize elections and boost the interest of participants in electoral processes, as well as increase youth awareness of civil rights and internationally recognized principles.
