Minister of Health Zurab Azarashvili visited David Chkhaidze in Chiatura. David Chkhaidze is a beneficiary of State Organ Transplant Program. He is the first patient in Georgia who has underwent liver transplant surgery in Georgia within this program. The State allocated GEL 70,000 for this purpose.

Zurab Azarashvili, together with the representatives of the Ministry got acquainted with rehabilitation process and health condition of the patient. The surgery was done at the end of March and the patient feels well. Currently he continues rehabilitation at home and receives all needed examinations and medicines free of charge.

The new State Health Program became operational from January, 2022.

The program co-finances liver transplant surgery and also covers pre-surgery preparatory period, post-surgery expenses and medicines.
