The Public Defender of Georgia addresses Salome Zourabichvili to exercise her power to pardon Nika Gvaramia, former Director General of Rustavi 2 Broadcasting Company.

The Ombudsman’s Office published the results of study of Nika Gvaramia’s verdict. Nino Lomjaria considers that the reasoning of the court is unfounded in terms of both conviction and sentencing.

“As the judgment represents the gross violation of the principle of legality enshrined in the Constitution, national and international laws, the Public Defender of Georgia, on the basis of Article 21 (h) of the Organic Law on the Public Defender of Georgia, is addressing the President of Georgia to exercise her power to pardon”, - reads the statement of Public Defender.
