As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities, representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, through the coordinated activities with the representatives of the Customs Department of the LEPL Revenue Service, brought to criminal liability one person on the fact of attempted smuggling of a particularly large amount of movable property across the customs border of Georgia.

Investigation determined, that the accused person, in order to receive illegal material benefit, through the customs checkpoint “Sadakhlo”, from Georgia to the Republic of Armenia, hidden from customs control, using specially arranged hiding place in MERCEDES-BENZ vehicle driven by him, attempted to transport particularly large amount of medicines and two laptops, intended for sale, total market value of goods estimates GEL 26 644.

Investigations is underway under the second part of article 214 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 5 to 7 years.
