Bilateral trade relations between Georgia and Japan and the two countries’ cooperation in the fields of energy, telecommunications, transport and more were discussed by the Georgian Economy Minister Levan Davitashvili and Japanese Deputy Foreign Minister Honda Taro.

“Georgia is becoming more interesting for Japanese companies as a transit country for connecting with Europe. This meeting had identified interesting directions for cooperation in energy and telecommunications.

Georgia-Japan economic relations are developing quite steadily [and] an agreement was signed in 2021 that will promote investment protection and mutual recognition, as well as encourage investment from both sides”, - said the Minister.

He underlined the importance of “higher liberalisation” of the trade relations for increasing trade turnover between the two countries.
