In a phone conversation with UN Secretary-General Ukrainian President asked for his assistance with the evacuation of the wounded from the Mariupol-based Azovstal plant.

Voldymyr Zelensky and António Guterres discussed the first stage of the evacuation of civilians from the Azovstal plant and further evacuation efforts.

Zelensky informed Guterres about the successful completion of the first stage, during which 121 civilians were evacuated from the Azovstal plant, and expressed hope for a successful continuation of evacuation efforts. President also appealed to the UN Secretary-General to assist in the evacuation of all the wounded from the Azovstal plant.

“The lives of the people who are remaining there are in danger. Everyone is important to us. We ask for your help in saving them”, - said Zelensky.

He expressed gratitude to the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross, which demonstrated the possibility of making progress amid the most difficult humanitarian crises.
