Persons accused of murdering 22-year-old Nika Kvaratskhelia were sentenced to 17 and 16 years in prison, respectively - accused Ako Chelidze was sentenced to 17 years in prison, Giorgi Kaviladze - 16 years.
The judge found Chelidze and Kaviladze guilty of premeditated murder of Kvaratskhelia, as well as illegal purchase, possession and carrying of weapons in group. According to the judge, Chelidze-Kaviladze acted as a group.
Defendants did not attend the announcement of the verdict. They disagreed with the classifications of the articles. Chelidze admitted that he had killed Kvaratskhelia, however, according to him, he had no accomplice in the murder and did not buy a weapon together with Giorgi Kaviladze. As for Giorgi Kaviladze, he pleaded not guilty in both articles and stated that he did not know about the murder in advance and that his crime was only not reporting the murder to the police.
