Aleksey Arestovich, adviser to the head of the Presidential Administration, does not rule out a second round of negotiations with Russia a couple of years after the signing of the peace agreement. Until that time, the authorities must prepare the Armed Forces of Ukraine and civil society.
Arestovich noted the softening of the current position of the Kremlin on Ukraine. Moscow’s demands on Kiev are “very modest”. And further, he believes, there will be more, because the situation will be resolved on the battlefield.
“But negotiations are a completely separate and very important track that prepares a peace agreement. And, as we understand, this agreement will determine, based on the merits of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, further peace and further preparations for a very possible second round in a few years for which we must conduct a very effective preparation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the entire country for a possible repetition of the situation”, - said Arestovich.
