The Tbilisi City Court fully upheld the claim of the Ministry of Defense and imposed on the former Minister of Defense and the former Head of the Procurement Department to pay the equivalent of EUR 5,060,000 (in GEL) in favor of the Ministry.

“David Kezerashvili and Alexander Ninua have been charged with abuse of office by the Prosecutor General’s Office and misappropriation / embezzlement of large sums of state money.

The case concerned the transfer of a large amount of money for the provision of certain services from the company registered in the offshore zone GIRWOOD BUSINESS CORP, but the Ministry did not receive this service. Kezerashvili and Ninua were found guilty by the Supreme Court of Georgia on September 7, 2021.

The same verdict established that the Defense Ministry had suffered material damage in the amount of EUR 5,060,000 due to the guilty actions of the mentioned persons”, - reads the statement.
