It is difficult to watch all this without emotions - Kakha Kaladze on Ukraine

The Mayor of Tbilisi once again expresses solidarity with the Ukrainian people.

“I would like to comment once again on the ongoing Ukraine events. The war taking place there is disturbing. Invasion and hostilities in Ukraine are unacceptable and, certainly, contrary to the rules of international law and all principles. It is difficult to watch all this without emotions. We all grieve for each lost life, tears, or wounds. I have a special love for Ukraine. For some years, I had to live in Ukraine, particularly in Kyiv. I remember a lot of memorable days and minutes. Many successes, victories, and great love connect me with the Ukrainian people. I want to express my solidarity with the Ukrainian people once again. As a Georgian, as an ordinary citizen of this country, I am especially proud that the Georgian diplomatic mission is among the units that did not leave Ukraine and our fellow citizens living in Ukraine during this difficult time. Special thanks to them for that.

Tbilisi and Kyiv are twin towns. In addition, we have partner cities from Ukraine and we will definitely be actively involved in the humanitarian aid that our country provides. We will join the central government in this initiative. Many calls are coming in, wanting to get involved in this support campaign. I instruct Ilia Eloshvili to allocate a place where ordinary citizens can contribute to this cause. Ukrainian citizens who are unable to return to their homeland at this stage have been assisted from the very first days. The Georgian government provided them with accommodation and food. For our part, Tbilisi City Hall will take measures that will somehow alleviate the situation of people in this difficult situation and even help solve the existing problems today. Numerous Ukrainian families have left the country and are seeking refuge. Personally, my friends and I are ready to provide them with accommodation. It may be insignificant, but if necessary, travel by municipal transport will be free for our Ukrainian guests. They will be given passenger passes”, - said Kakha Kaladze.
