Salome Zourabichvili to sign a request for extraordinary session on Ukraine

President of Georgia announced she is set to greenlight holding an extraordinary session of the Parliament over Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Salome Zourabichvili said all sides have to express together “that the whole nation stands by the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and on the side of peace”.

She also suggested to hold an expanded meeting of the National Security Council.

“I was informed that we have received a request for an extraordinary session and I am going to sign it. For my part, I am ready to represent Georgia (as the Constitution allows me to do), in all formats where the issue of Ukraine will be discussed.

The issue of Ukraine is our issue and the voice of Georgia should be heard. We have been and will always be on the side of trying to find a peaceful way, but at the same time on the side of upholding principles. This is what our unanimity should be”, - said the President of Georgia.
