Ruling party wouldn’t correct the mistake made by the opposition - Archil Talakvadze

The Georgian Dream has rejected calls made by opposition to restore proportional lists that would allow replacement of MPs whose status is being suspended in voting in the Parliament, with officials from the party pointing out to a past support for removal of the reserve lists by the opposition.

Vice-Speaker of the legislature said the ruling party wouldn’t “correct the mistake” made by the United National Movement.

“I want to respond to today’s statement, which once again shows how inconsistent the UNM is and how destructive their actions are not only for the country, but also for them, they made hasty and wrong decision.

We were trying to convince them not to cancel the lists, we were telling them that it was a wrong political decision, it was cutting a way back. Today they want to go back and because of their own decision they can’t do it. Therefore, when they claim the status of a major opposition party, it is time for them to take responsibility for their own decisions. When they did something a few months ago, especially when everyone was trying to convince them not to do it, today they should not try to arouse pity for themselves among the public with their reverse briefings”, - said Archil Talakvadze.
