Georgian Dream nominates candidates for April 2 by-elections

The ruling party has nominated Irakli Shatakishvili as a majoritarian candidate for the April 2 parliamentary by-elections in Rustavi and Gardabani, and Ramaz Jincharadze as a majoritarian candidate of the Batumi City Council.

“Winning both elections is fundamentally important, because winning the elections in Rustavi - Gardabani constituency will significantly strengthen the parliamentary majority.

As for the elections in Batumi, the formation of a solid majority in the Batumi City Council, which is necessary for the smooth development of the city, depends on these elections”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze, the Chairman of the Georgian Dream.

The by-elections in Batumi will be held as the city council member from the United National Movement, Nugzar Putkaradze, died in November 2021, while in Rustavi the vote has been prompted by a vacant seat after former majoritarian MP Nino Latsabidze from the Georgian Dream was voted as the Rustavi Mayor in self-government elections in October 2021.
