As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities, representatives of Investigation Department of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, in Imereti region, detained two persons on the fact of storage and transportation of particularly large amount of excisable goods subject to marking, without excise marks.

Investigation determined that the accused persons, in order to disguise a criminal act, on January 21 of 2022, using a vehicle registered on one of the medical facilities, transported particularly large amount of non-excised tobacco for further sale.

As a result of investigative activities, 27 540 boxes of non-excised tobacco have been seized, the market value of which exceeds GEL 121 000.

Investigation is underway under the third part of Article 200 of Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 6 to 8 years.
