1 254 cases of Omicron have been confirmed in the laboratory in the country, approximately 17-20% out of them are re-infected. Such a statement made today the Head of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health.
“Today we have a so-called anti-record of cases – 7 521, which was not yet the case during the pandemic. The rate of positivity has also increased. The only positive thing is that the mortality rate is declining and a few days ago we came below our threshold. Gradually this heavy indicator is also declining.
50% of positive cases in Georgia are Omicron. In Tbilisi the share of Omicron is 65%. We have 30-35% in the regions. Adjara and Guria follow Tbilisi in terms of incidence. However, Imereti, Adjara and Shida Kartli are in second place after Tbilisi in terms of Omicron.
Omicron cases are relatively light compared to Delta, but we should not loosen up, because if there are many cases at once, the result will be different”, - said Amiran Gamkrelidze.
