“We have the first meeting with Mikheil Saakashvili’s lawyers in 2022. Naturally, this year should be the year of ending his imprisonment. Georgia should not have the third president in political captivity when there is no evidence. We see that a number of fundamental rights have been substantially violated and it is crucial that former president be ousted. At the same time, the State Inspector’s Office is investigating the torture against Saakashvili”, - said Beka Basilaia.

“The principle of confidentiality of communication is not guaranteed here, all the windows are closed and the only way to communicate our thoughts to each other is to speak loudly. This is a very serious issue. We ask the Bar Association to respond to this problem and we also constantly remind the Penitentiary Service that they are violating the fundamental right to a confidential communication”, - added rights defender.
