Calling for a violent change of the constitutional order of Georgia or the overthrow of state power is a criminal offense and is punishable by up to 3 years in prison - SSSG

The State Security Service of Georgia issued another statement regarding the investigation into the conspiracy to overthrow the Government.

“The public is aware that the State Security Service is investigating a conspiracy to overthrow the state government under the first part of Article 315 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.

Recently, public statements containing signs of crime have been spread on social networks and in the media, deliberately or unknowingly calling on citizens to overthrow the government, including through revolution and violent means.

Calling for a violent change of the constitutional order of Georgia or the overthrow of state power, and/or the dissemination of material containing such a call, is a criminal offense under Article 317 of the Criminal Code and is punishable by up to 3 years in prison.

The State Security Service, within its competence, will take all legal measures provided by law to protect the constitutional order of Georgia”, - reads the statement.
