We have to start replacing damaged buildings with new ones from next year - Kakha Kaladze

We have to start replacing damaged buildings with new ones from next year. Such a statement made today the Mayor of Tbilisi.

“The damaged building replacement program is important, which was one of our pre-election promises. Unfortunately, we have many such buildings in the capital. We have to start replacing certain buildings with new ones from next year to create normal living conditions for the people living there. It is very important to approve a business support program on time. Due to the existing pandemic, small and medium-sized businesses have been severely affected. Therefore, we must continue their support in 2022. Business support is fundamentally important to us. They need to be able to retain employees because specific families are behind these people. We have about 400 homeless families in Tbilisi, we will start implementing the program for them in 2022 and we will not have any homeless Tbilisians. It has been several years already that we started creating the appropriate housing fund. All homeless people will be satisfied as much as possible and we will solve this problem.

It is important to pay special attention to unfinished buildings. We have promised the population that there will be no unfinished buildings in Tbilisi. We helped up to 10 000 families, made them happy, and brought joy back to their faces. These were the families affected by the following companies: Center Point, Sveti, Olympic Star, and Axis. These people know when they will get housing and this problem will be solved for them. Certainly, they need to be regulated very quickly and have the same support as they were in the case of other construction companies. Also important is the topic of the 500 GEL voucher, which was a pre-election promise. From next year, socially vulnerable pensioners shall be able to receive the appropriate vouchers from January, at any time of the year, to purchase the necessary medicaments”, - said Kakha Kaladze.
