We will exempt the tenants of the municipality and municipal enterprises from the rent tax payable in 2021-2022

We will exempt the tenants of the municipality and municipal enterprises from the rent tax payable in 2021-2022. Such a statement made today the Mayor of Tbilisi.

“By 2022, the Program to Support Businesses affected by the pandemic will be launched. We have developed a number of measures in this direction. In particular, we will exempt the tenants of the municipality and municipal enterprises from the rent tax payable in 2021-2022. In addition, given that their economic activity has decreased as a result of the pandemic, we are proposing to adjust the lease terms by two years, which means that we will directly extend the lease terms by two years. Also, for those who have expired or are expiring the lease agreement with the municipality or municipal enterprises in the period from January 1, 2020, to January 1, 2022, we will offer a two-year restoration of this lease right.

During the same period, the lease tax penalties will be written off. Tourism facilities - restaurants, hotels, and others - will be exempted from the one-time cleaning fee. As a result of the pandemic, the economic sector, especially small and medium-sized businesses, was significantly affected. Lots of families and people are behind them. Therefore, it is important to continue their supportive measures. The business support program in the form of a project has already been presented to the Tbilisi City Municipal Assembly and I hope for the support of the majority of the Municipal Assembly. I think this will be a kind of promotion for small and medium businesses”, - said Kakha Kaladze.
