Emmanuel Macron sues paparazzi over holiday jet ski photo

A photograph of Emmanuel Macron riding a jet ski has so angered the French president and his wife that they have opened criminal proceedings against a photographer and a Paris gallery owner for breaching their privacy, writes The Timmes.

The Macrons lodged a complaint with prosecutors after the picture of the president on holiday in the Mediterranean last year was displayed this month in the window of a gallery opposite the Elysée Palace.

Although pictures of French presidents on holiday at the Fort de Brégançon, the summer retreat on the Mediterranean coast, have been a press tradition for decades, Macron, 43, guards his privacy more than other recent leaders and uses the law to enforce it.
