As a result of operative-investigative activities, the officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs seized illegal firearms and ammunition in Borjomi, Tskaltubo and Lentekhi municipalities at different times. Law enforcers arrested 3 people convicted in the past: J.P. (DoB 1964) is accused of illegal purchase and keeping of firearms and ammunition, Z.K. (DoB1991) and G.G. (DoB1982) are charged with illegal purchase, keeping and carrying of firearms and ammunition.

The committed crime envisages from 3 to 7 years of imprisonment.

The officers of Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti Police Department, as a result of search activities held in J.P’s place of residence seized the following firearms: “Nagan” revolver, AKS automatic weapon, smoothbore rifle, cartridge and 914 magazines.

The officers of Kutaisi City Police Department arrested previously convicted Z.K. who was stopped by the law enforcers while driving a vehicle on the territory of Tskaltubo municipality. During the search of the vehicle, the police seized Kalashnikov AK-45 automatic firearm, cartridge and magazines as evidence.

The officers of Borjomi Police Division of Samtskhe-Javakheti Police Department, as a result of operative and investigative activities, seized C.Z. pistol with a cartridge from G.G. on Grigol Robakidze Street in Borjomi during the personal search.

The facts of illegal purchase, keeping and carrying of firearms and ammunition are being investigated under Article 236, III and IV parts of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
