The State Security Service of Georgia released video and audio material about 5 people detained in the Pankisi Gorge on charges of membership of the terrorist organization Islamic State.
“As a proof of loyalty, they swore allegiance to the current leader of the Islamic State. The members of the group openly expressed their support to the terrorist organization and systematically demonstrated terrorist symbols while moving in the streets.
The leader of a group supporting the terrorist organization has been identified, who openly stated that he was a representative of the terrorist organization Islamic State and the Emir of Georgia.
It was with his help that the above-mentioned individuals joined the ranks of the terrorist organization and planned to leave for Syria. They periodically held conspiratorial meetings to discuss current developments in Syria-Iraq and future plans for Georgia”, - reads the statement of the SSSG.
