We will leave Parliament if Georgian Dream tries to avoid calling fully proportional snap elections - Lelo

If the Georgian Dream tries to avoid calling a fully proportional snap election after there is the outcome envisaged in April 19 agreement, members of the Lelo will leave the legislature.

“We must strengthen the support of the West through close coordination and active work. We must show the Georgian people and the international democratic community that we will not tolerate the infamous government that is ready to cut the country off from the Euro-Atlantic orbit in order to stay in power.

If the ruling party tries to avoid calling fully proportional early elections after there is the outcome envisaged in the Charles Michel document, the members of the Partnership for Georgia faction will leave the parliament and, we are sure, it will be the decision of the opposition. This will be a decisive step towards early elections.

Unlike November 2020, this time the fulfillment of the demands of the vast majority of the population will be ensured by the clear support of the international community loyal to the Charles Michel agreement. With such a clear and unanimous domestic and international pressure, the one-party parliament with the problem of political-legal legitimacy will inevitably be dissolved and early elections will be called”, - reads the statement.
