Individuals or church leaders can apply to the TV channels management and inform that they don’t want to communicate with their journalists - Patriarchate

Individuals or church leaders can apply to the TV channels management and inform that they don’t want to communicate with their journalists. Such a statement released the Georgian Patriarchate.

“The Georgian Church has been under serious attack by certain forces for a long time. After July 5-6 events, the situation in our media became extremely aggressive.

Hate speech is especially distinguished by the Mtavari Arkhi, TV Pirveli and Formula, which broadcast directly and reluctantly insult against the Georgian Patriarchate, Catholicos-Patriarch, priests and parishioners.

Often the journalists of the mentioned channels, instead of covering information objectively, voice biased assessments and baseless accusations, deliberately distort facts and try to irritate respondents with provocative questions.

It is true that some misconduct took place on the part of few clergymen, but it is purposeful to generalize individual case and focus on the violence of the clergymen in general. They do not even mention how many clergymen saved the same journalists during the July 5-6 violence.

The norms of journalistic ethics are grossly violated, there is still a public demonstration of psychological violence, which for some reason remains unnoticed by embassies and the NGOs.

Based on laws, individuals or church leaders can apply in writing to the management of TV channels and inform that they do not want to communicate with their journalists. It is also advisable to place an appropriate notice at the entrance to the temple courtyard”, - reads the statement.
