The Ministry of Internal Affairs detained 8 persons connected with the “Thieves World”

The officers of the Main Division for Combating Organized Crime under the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in cooperation with the General Prosecutor"s Office, detained 8 persons in Tbilisi and Marneuli as a result of complex operative and investigative activities carried out on the basis of the relevant court decision.

All of the detainees: P.G. (DoB 1969, Nicknamed “Paliko”), Z.G. (DoB1980, Nicknamed “Mukho”), J.G. (DoB1964, Nicknamed “Jama”), V.G. (DoB 1995) D.D. (DoB1983) D.A. (DoB1991) V.G. (DoB1983, Nicknamed “Lapukha”), A.O. (DoB 1963) are accused of membership of the so-called “thieves’ world”, appealing to a member of the “thieves’ world” and supporting the activities of the “thieves’ world”.

The committed crime envisages from 3 to 10 years of imprisonment.

The investigation established that one of the citizens had a financial dispute with A.O. with regard to the indebtedness.

In order to discuss the dispute in accordance with the “Thieves Rules” and resolve it in his favor, A.O. contacted members of the “thieves’ world” with the assistance of D.A. and other detainees who promised to assistance A.O. in exchange for receiving certain financial benefits.

In April and March of 2021, detainees arranged the so called “Criminal Skirmish” in a residential house located in one of the districts of Tbilisi.

According to the decision made as a result of “Criminal Skirmish” it was decided that A.O. would not have to return the indebtedness in the amount of 26 thousand USD to the lender as her actions were not corresponding the rules established by the “Thieves World”.

As a result of the search activities, the law enforcers seized computer equipment and the detainees’ mobile phones applied to communicate with each other for organization of “Criminal Skirmishes”.

Investigation on the fact of membership of the so-called “Thieves World”, appealing to a member of the “thieves’ world” and supporting the activities of the “thieves’ world” is in progress under articles 223-(1), Part I article 223-(3) part II and article 223(4) part II of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
