The Minister of Internal Affairs opened a new administrative building of the police in Gurjaani. Vakhtang Gomelauri toured the building along with the Deputy Ministers- Shalva Bedoidze, Giorgi Butkhuzi, the director of Kakheti Police Department - Giorgi Aladashvili and other representatives of the Ministry. The event was attended by the governor of Kakheti region – Irakli Shioshvili, Majoritarian MP- Davit Songhulashvili and Major of Gurjaani municipality – Archil Khandamashvili.
The new building, which is constructed and arranged according to modern standards, is aimed for 100 employees. The building has a working space for detectives and investigators, interrogation, identification and evidence rooms and a gym for personnel.
It is notable that in addition to Gurjaani Police Division, several units of the Ministry will also be located in the same building, namely: the Forensic-criminalistics Service, the Security Police and the Temporary Detention Isolator.
The building is adapted for people with special needs.
Within the frames of police infrastructure of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 16 new buildings were constructed in 2020 in order to improve the working environment of police officers and provide effective police services to citizens. Several more police buildings will be constructed ad opened this year.
