Joint Exercises of Georgian and Ukrainian boarding teams

In the framework of the multinational maritime exercise Sea Breeze 2021, the boarding teams of the MIA Border Police Coast Guard Department, together with their Ukrainian counterparts, conducted joint exercises.

During the exercises, under the supervision of the Greek instructors, the representatives of the Georgian Coast Guard and the Ukrainian Navy and Coast Guard planned and carried out a high-risk boarding operation, which included stopping the vessel in violation of maritime regulations, climbing aboard using a tactical ladder, movement aboard, verifying identities of persons aboard, and establishing control over the vessel.

U.S. Sixth Fleet and the Ukrainian Navy are co-hosting the multinational maritime exercise Sea Breeze 2021. The exercise is taking place from June 28 to July 10 in the Black Sea region. The annual exercise includes sea, land, and air components, and aims to enhance interoperability among participating forces and increase the joint capabilities to ensure regional maritime security. This year’s iteration has the largest number of participating nations in the exercise’s history with 32 countries from six continents providing 5,000 troops, 32 ships, 40 aircraft, and 18 special operations and dive teams scheduled to participate.
