The US Department of Transportation has banned the sale of air tickets to Belarus, even with a transfer. The decision is related to the incident with the forced landing of the Ryanar aircraft in Minsk.
An exception to the ban can only be the case when it comes to US national security, is specified in the document of the Ministry of Transport.
The measure was announced on July 2, and there have been no objections from Washington since then. Therefore, the restriction comes into force, the department specified.
Washington suspended flights with Belarus after the forced landing of a Ryanair aircraft flying from Athens to Vilnius and was landed in Minsk with the help of a MiG-29 military aircraft. Allegedly, there was a bomb on board the passenger liner. After the plane landed, the former editor-in-chief of the telegram channel NEXTA, Roman Protasevich, and his girlfriend, a Russian woman, Sofia Sapega, were detained on board.
