Ninotsminda may set a precedent for how children should return to their families - Ghassan Khalil

Ninotsminda boarding school may set a precedent for how children should return to their families. Such a statement made today the UNICEF Representative in Georgia.

As Ghassan Khalil said, UNICEF will monitor the situation at the Ninotsminda orphanage.

“Monitoring should be carried out by the country’s relevant agencies to protect the rights of children fully. All States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of the Child must ensure that children are raised in a family environment. That is why I am in Ninotsminda today to discuss and correct all the problems in the meeting format.

As for the information about the alleged violence in the shelter, I called on all relevant agencies to investigate each case on time, where there is talk of alleged physical and psychological pressure. All the culprits involved in this process should be identified”, - added the UNICEF Representative in Georgia.
