The officers of Detectives Division under Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs along with Special Tasks Department, as a result of jointly held operative and investigative activities detained I.M (DoB 1992) in Sakulia village, Tskaltubo municipality on the basis of the relevant court decision.

The committed crime envisages from 4 to 7 years of imprisonment.

The investigation established that on May 29, of the current year, the accused person attacked and physically assaulted a police officer on duty during a protest rally against the construction of Namakhvani hydro power plant in the village of Gumati, Tskaltubo Municipality.

During the arrest of I.M., local residents offered resistance to the police officers after which the police used coercive measures in accordance with the law.

The investigation is in progress under article 3531, I part of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
