President of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro offered to pay vaccines against COVID-19 oil supplies.
“Venezuela has oil vessels, and there are customers who will buy our oil. We are ready to supply oil in exchange for vaccines, but we will not ask anyone”, - said the president, speaking on public television.
Currently, Venezuela receives vaccines from Russia and China. The government and the opposition negotiated with the Pan American Health Organization (PAZ) on the access of Venezuela to vaccines through the COVAX mechanism. However, last week the authorities of the country stated that the AstraZeneca vaccine was not used – one of the main drugs supplied over the COVAX line in Latin America.
