As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities, representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, exposed five persons on the fact of neglecting official duty.

Investigation determined, that during the past years, in Imereti region, road rehabilitation works were carried out, the supervision and acceptance of which was entrusted to the relevant commission of one of the municipalities.

The accused persons, who were members of this commission, improperly performed their duties, which led to a substantial violation of the legitimate interests of the state. In particular, because of neglecting official duty, the contractor company performed less work than it was agreed upon in the contract.

Of those persons brought to the criminal liability, three are currently acting and two are former public officials.

Investigation is underway under the first part of article 342 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment up to 3 years.
