Girchi calls on Georgian Dream not to support the issue of termination of powers for opposition MPs

Girchi calls on the Georgian Dream not to support the termination of mandates for opposition MPs.

“The Georgian Dream is considering the issue of termination of the term of office of 51 MPs elected from the opposition parties. At the same time, negotiations are ongoing through the mediation of facilitators.

Neither side has publicly expressed a desire to terminate the negotiations, and therefore does not take responsibility for their disruption. The Georgian Dream is primarily responsible for the disputed elections.

The termination of powers for our colleagues will make the negotiation process meaningless, exacerbate the crisis. That’s why we want to ask our colleagues from the ruling party to show willingness for cooperation, not to support the expulsion of your colleagues from the Parliament, postpone this decision and leave time for discussion so that MPs can understand the importance of the agreement.

If, despite our sincere request, the Georgian Dream will terminate the mandate of our colleagues, we will immediately submit applications on the termination of their powers as well”, - reads the statement of Girchi.
