The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Davit Zalkaliani, held a telephone conversation with his Lithuanian counterpart, Gabrielius Landsbergis. The Ministers exchanged information on the current situation related to the coronavirus in both countries.

The parties stressed the importance of coordination and mutual support in the fight against the pandemic between the states.

Zalkaliani thanked Landsbergis for initiating a letter from the foreign ministers of 13 EU countries urging the EU to work out a simplified mechanism to enable the Eastern Partnership member states, including Georgia, to receive the COVID-19 vaccine in the spring. They also stressed the friendly relations between Georgia and Lithuania, the significant support for Georgia in the European and Euro-Atlantic integration process.

It should be noted that on January 11, Davit Zalkaliani also met with the Ambassador of Lithuania to Georgia Andrius Kalindra at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

At the meeting, the Ambassador officially handed over a letter signed by the first diplomats of 13 EU countries to the Georgian Foreign Minister.
