Romania obtained, together with Georgia, the hosting of the 2023 edition of the European Under-21 Championship. The decision was taken by the UEFA Executive Committee, tekdeeps.com.

“The success of the FRF candidacy file means Romania U21’s participation in the final tournament over three years, the third consecutive qualification at EURO representing a historic premiere at this level for Romanian football. And Romania becomes the only European host country at two EURO U21”, mentions site the official of the Romanian Football Federation.

The final tournament, in which 16 teams will participate, including the representatives of the host countries, will be organized in Romania in two cities, Cluj-Napoca and Bucharest, each city will host a group.

The stadiums in Romania, in order of capacity, will be: National Arena (Bucharest) – 54,028 seats, Steaua Stadium (Bucharest) – 31,254 seats, Cluj Arena (Cluj-Napoca) – 30,201 seats, Dr. Constantin Radulescu (Cluj-Napoca) – 23,500 seats.

In Georgia, the matches will take place on Dinamo Arena (Tbilisi) stadiums – 54,202 seats, “Mikheil Meskhi” Stadium (Tbilisi) – 25,154 seats, Batumi Stadium (Batumi) – 20,383 seats, Fazisi Stadium (Poti) – 8,200 seats.

The opening match will take place in Romania, and the last act of the competition will take place in Georgia.
