Powerful Cyclone Nivar, packing estimated wind speeds of 120 to 130 kmph, made its landfall as a very severe cyclonic storm near Puducherry coast in the wee hours of Thursday.
In its latest updates, IMD said that severe cyclonic storm Nivar expected to move northwest and weaken into cyclonic storm in districts of south-interior Karnataka. Fishermen have been advised not to go to sea in south-coastal Andhra Pradesh and north-coastal Tamil Nadu. Chennai to have moderate rainfall till tomorrow.
