Two people detained on the fact of manufacturing and selling false official documents

As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities, representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia detained two citizens of Republic of Turkey on the fact of manufacturing and selling false official documents and manufacturing counterfeit excise marks by a group of persons with prior agreement.

Investigation revealed that accused persons, manufactured two false driver’s licenses in Adjara region and sold them for USD 300.

As a result of investigative activities, computer equipment used for manufacturing false documents, special printing equipment and polygraphic material, forged excise marks intended for tobacco product marking, driver’s licenses and identity cards made in the name of different persons, university diploma and school certificate were additionally seized.

Investigation is underway under the first part of Article 362 and second part of Article 2001 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 4 to 6 years.
