Faction “Independent MPs” is proposing to the political parties a new idea about the election system.

According to Levan Koberidze, the negotiations between the Georgian Dream and one part of the opposition have not yielded results and are deadlocked.

As an independent MP said, in order to reach the consensus on a 100/50 model for the parliamentary elections, their faction laid out its terms and proposed it to other political parties. These four conditions are:

1. The proportional electoral system must be maintained from 2024;

2. If there is a need for early parliamentary elections between 2020 and 2024, the elections will be held on the same principle as for the 2020 parliamentary elections;

3. Participation in the Parliamentary elections of 2020 for all citizens of Georgia should be mandatory;

4. If these terms will be taken into consideration, we are ready to support a 100/50 model for 2020 elections.
