Azerbaijan’s ruling party leading in a snap parliamentary election called by President Ilham Aliyev.
There are 87 % of the ballots counted. Candidates from the ruling Yeni Azerbaijan (New Azerbaijan) party won about 65 of 125 seats in the single-chamber parliament, Mazahir Panakhov, the Central Election Commission head, said after counting the results from around 110 districts.
Early parliamentary elections took place in Azerbaijan on February 9 and was held the first time in the history of the country.
