The opposition should draw a very simple conclusion from the ODIHR document, i.e. it is equally legitimate not only the 100/50 system we’ve offered, but even the current one - 77/73. Such a statement made Irakli Kobakhidze, Georgian Dream Executive Secretary, during the conference at the party office.

“Two additional messages can be seen in this report. One is that the choice of the electoral system is a sovereign right of the state, including that the proportional, fully majoritarian or mixed electoral systems are all fully fair. This is a very clear conclusion that can be read in the ODIHR document and there is also a hint that the electoral system should not change during the election year. Consequently, the sooner the opposition agrees to the offer of the ruling team relating to the 100/50 system, the better for them, otherwise the elections will be held under 77/73 system, which according to ODIHR, is in full compliance with the legal principles”, - concluded Irakli Kobakhidze.
