Justice Minister reprimands Ombudsman for sending an employee wearing ripped jeans to prison

Tea Tsulukiani responds to the Public Defender’s criticism of the penitentiary institutions with recommendations.

According to the Minister of Justice, the Ombudsman does not visits penitentiary institutions and prepares a report based on the staff who carry out “alleged monitoring” in prisons.

During the committee meeting, Tsulukiani presented a video recording, which she said depicted an employee of the Public Defender, who “twice asked the inmate to make a coffee, eat his chocolate, smoke his cigarette and stayed in the so-called monitoring center for 4 hours.

I am not saying that these are massive cases, but what you are complaining about is not massive either. You can"t send an employee wearing ripped jeans. Such a person will not be allowed even into the Opera House, not to mention prison. You are reprimanding me for the fact that my employee was not wearing a uniform, but I cannot distinguish your employee from a prisoner. The only difference is that we do not allow prisoners to wear hats”, - concluded Tsulukiani.
