Employees of the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia arrested two persons on the fact of keeping, transporting and sale of especially large quantities of excise goods, without excise stamps.

According to investigation, 75 000 boxes of non-excise cigarettes were seized from persons involved in crime in the Kakheti region.

The market value of the cigarettes is more than GEL 290 000.

“The investigation is in progress under the second and third parts of Article 200 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages from 6 to 8 years of imprisonment”, - reads the statement of Investigation Service
