Prosecution Service of Georgia initiates investigation into the alleged falsification of parliamentary elections, summoned Salome Zourabichvili

Based on the statement of the Central Election Commission (CEC) dated October 30, 2024, the Prosecution Service of Georgia has launched an investigation into the alleged falsification of the Parliamentary Elections with the elements of the crime punishable under Article 164³ of the Criminal Code of Georgia.

Pursuant to the statement of the CEC and information disseminated through the media, President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili is believed to possess evidence regarding possible falsification of the 2024 Parliamentary Elections.

Therefore, in accordance with the law, the President of Georgia has been summoned to the investigative agency for an interview on October 31 of this year.

The Prosecution Service of Georgia will conduct all necessary investigative and procedural actions to study the facts raised in the CEC’s statement, as well as those mentioned by the President of Georgia, certain political parties, and the representatives of election observation missions.

Among these, as part of the investigation, all individuals who may have information regarding the alleged offense will be interviewed.

Additionally, we would like to inform the public that in order to look into specific offenses identified during the pre-election period and on the Election Day, law enforcement agencies are actively investigating multiple criminal cases.

The Prosecution Service will periodically inform the public about the results of the investigation.
