On September 27, 2024, under the auspices of the United Nations Tourism Organization, Georgia will host the World Tourism Day event for the 1st time.
According to the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, this year’s theme of World Tourism Day is “Tourism and Peace”.
“Within the framework of the large-scale event, Georgia will be visited by high-ranking guests from many countries of the world, ministers of tourism, representatives of international organizations and the field of tourism.
Discussion panels will be held within the framework of the World Tourism Day, the world trends of tourism development and the importance of peace in terms of the development of the industry will be discussed.
Holding the World Tourism Day event in Georgia will significantly contribute to the strengthening of the country"s tourism awareness in the international arena.
In the spring of 2023, 38 member countries of the European Commission of the United Nations World Tourism Organization unanimously supported the initiative of the Georgian delegation in connection with the celebration of the World Tourism Day in Georgia in 2024.
The World Tourism Day has been celebrated by the UN World Tourism Organization since 1979, on September 27 of every year”, - reads the statement.
