Speaker of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, Minister of Defense, Juansher Burchuladze, Mayor of Tbilisi, Kakha Kaladze, Chairman of the City Assembly, Giorgi Tkemaladze, and members of the Parliament laid wreaths at the cadet memorial in the inner courtyard of the Parliamentary Palace in honor of the memory of the Georgian cadets who gave their lives for the unity of Georgia.

“We shall pay tribute to the cadets who lost their lives in the war for national independence in Kojori, Tabakhmela, and Ialguji against the Red Army of Soviet Russia. It is our responsibility to instill the following generations with this heroism since it is an example that has been handed down from one generation to the next.

In light of the numerous security-related difficulties we face this year, it is extremely important that we take this day seriously in order to protect the sacrifices made by the brave cadets who gave their lives in defense of our nation. This is Georgia’s freedom and independence. It is our job to observe this day responsibly, to consider the present, and to protect Georgia’s independence and freedom for coming generations”, - said Shalva Papuashvili.

A memorial service to honor the cadets’ memory was held in the chapel of the Annunciation in the Parliament’s yard. The Speaker of the Parliament, MPs, and guests attended, as well as the cadets’ descendants. A significant number of Georgian cadets lost their lives on February 23, 1921, in an unfair conflict with the soldiers of the 11th Army of Soviet Russia.
