Chairperson of the Central Election Commission (CEC), summarized the 2022 activity and presented a new strategic plan for the Election Administration (EA).

Giorgi Kalandarishvili discussed the activities and results achieved in 2022 in detail: institutional development, piloting electronic technologies in by-elections and lessons learned, election educational projects, development of an inclusive election environment, and strengthening of international and domestic partnerships.

After summing up the previous year, he presented the 2023-2026 strategic plan of EA and underscored that the document was developed with unprecedently high engagement and inclusion and by applying different approaches. According to Chairperson, the plan includes three strategic pillars – improvement of the electoral environment, institutional strengthening, and technological development and meets all current challenges the Administration faces.

“Based on high accountability, which has become a good tradition for EA, we shared information about key activities and the progress administration has achieved in the previous year with stakeholders. We also presented them with information about a strategic plan which will ensure a significant transformation of the EA and progress for the next four years. We connected all three strategic pillars with efficient enforcement of election reform. One is related to technological development and voter education in this regard, stakeholder awareness, and improvement of the electoral environment and its culture. The mentioned will ensure the conduct of 2024 elections at a high level”, - said Giorgi Kalandarishvili.

Following the event, Giorgi Kalandarishvili discussed by/extraordinary elections to be held in April. The CEC Chairperson detailed participants on a preparatory process for mentioned elections and stressed that verification and vote-counting devices would be used once again during spring elections. It is worth underlining that event participants had an opportunity to become acquainted with mentioned devices.
